I’m especially curious about those of you who are in positions of leadership in your world. Some of us, in those positions, hold a lot of responsibility, even more so now. One person described it as navigating through the jungle of leadership. In some pockets of our world there is desperation and hard choices to make. When we have the capacity developed within us to hold the whole global picture and still be able to do the microscission surgery of paying attention to the little details that can make such an impact on so many lives. That’s a gift. It’s not a gift that all of us have. I want to acknowledge that it’s a gift that some of us have and I’m so grateful for your leadership in the world. You inspire me.
At the same time as you are out there navigating this jungle of leadership in our world today, especially on the medical forefront where there is such a pandemic going on with this virus. It’s like you are out there in this wilderness and you have this huge 100 lb. pack on your back and each pound represents one thing that you are paying attention to and holding with care. It could be an employee, or it could be all these masks that are needed or the ventilators. There are so many different items and pieces to track with care. To know how to get grants and resources and then provide those resources to the people who need those resources.
You are so resourceful and are working with so much dedication you are on fire you are so lit up. Because you are passionate about helping the world, especially those you are in closest proximity to. And, because we need to be practicing physical distancing you are still reaching out socially hosting video calls, meeting with teams of people to support them, to inspire them and to empower them to be the difference in the world that each of us needs.
Some of us in these positions, we are home alone! We need to meet our basic needs; prepare our food, take time to eat, clean our house, attend to hygiene, do our laundry. We need to find a way to have balance. We are so busy attending to all of these things, and attending meetings that are very, very important, we can get swept up in the intensity of it. Even though we are taking care of our basic needs, I’m wondering at the end of the day, do you feel drained? Exhausted? Or feel a sense of depletion or a desperation of loneliness?
I’m wondering, are there places in your world where people are catching you? Catching your heart and hearing you with their heart? Are there places where your inner experience of what it’s like to be you is being caught with compassion and care? Taking time to pause with you, to let you sink into your very being, so your body can start to come back to relaxation to rest and digest. To process all of the emotions that the container that you hold is filled with. Do you have a place where you can dare to be vulnerable to speak your truth, and others are there that can understand you and feel what you feel with you? So you can have accompaniment and feel felt and get gotten? They can reflect back with accuracy and precision while reflecting back the complexity that you hold and express their gratitude for you having built this capacity. Especially now.
